Regarding this article and the extreme hate that Amanda Abbington has been receiving because of it.
Imagine for a moment that your father is an actor. Imagine one day, deciding to google his name and look him up on the internet. Imagine discovering the massive and dedicated fanbase surrounding the show that he and his best friend, your uncle Ben, star on. There are thousands and thousands of blogs, artwork, graphics, writing, and more all about your dad and the character he plays. Wow, that’s pretty amazing. Then you decide to look through the fanart about him and his character. These people have talent, you think. There are hyper-realistic digital paintings of his character. It’s phenomenal how much it looks exactly like your dad. There are chibi-versions of your dad’s character and uncle Ben’s character, running around and solving crimes together. Aww, that’s adorable, you think. But then you come across another fanart image. This one doesn’t make you happy. In fact, it scares you. It horrifies you. It’s a drawing of your dad and his best friend having sex. You know that the artist meant for it to be of John and Sherlock, their characters, not the actors. But your dad plays John. He is John. And the picture is clearly of your dad as John, not another version or portrayal of the character. It’s a fantasy porn drawing of your dad and his best friend. What is this? you think. It disgusts you. That’s your dad. Why would someone post this right here on the internet for you to see? How can you ever unsee this? How can you ever get this image erased from your mind? But you can’t. This is what your mom had tried to explain to the millions of dedicated Sherlock fans. This is what many of them didn’t understand.
Guys, please try to understand. Amanda has every right to be concerned about the extremely explicit and graphic fanart relating to Martin and Benedict. It’s all out there in the open on the internet for anyone to see, including her own kids when they get older. Please consider that before getting upset about her opinion on the matter.

I LITERALLY JUST WOKE UP TEN MNUTES AGO TO SEE THAT MY NEWEST SHERLOCK EDIT HAS OVER 1.3K NOTES!? AND I HAVE LIKE 50 NEW FOLLOWERS!? IS IT MY BIRTHDAY? HOW DID THIS EVEN HAPPEN? SERIOUSLY, THANK YOU GUYS SO INCREDIBLY MUCH. THIS MADE MY ENTIRE WEEK.
seriously though in the depths of Sherlock’s own mind Jim Moriarty has to be bound and collared in a padded room for safety’s sake what does that say about how terrifying Sherlock actually finds him
i have a theory that moriarty in that room symbolizes the part of sherlock that he keeps hidden and locked away for fear of letting in a darker part of himself take control. we know that sherlock has the capability to become like moriarty, a master criminal. it’s a struggle for sherlock to keep that part of himself locked up. i think that sherlock does find moriarty terrifying, which also means that sherlock is at least partly terrified of himself and what he has the capability to do.
I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO WATCH HIS LAST VOW! IT WAS SO GREAT, BUT THERE ARE SO MANY QUESTIONS! I HAVE TO WATCH IT AGAIN IMMEDIATELY! AND SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY: MORIARTY.
what if mary gets killed sometime after she has the baby
and john and sherlock are left to raise him or her on their own
